Setting up the appropriate equipment
![]() ![]() |
The way we set up our equipment depended on the scene, location and
shot we were attempting. Multiple locations and shots were harder to set up and
some were easier.
The way we set up depended on weather conditions too, on one of our
reshoots days, the weather was bad. We managed to film anyway but we had to wait out the rain in our cars in order to prevent damage. We also had to reschedule some shots do the next filming day.
We used a mixture of tripod and handheld shots, when doing the handheld
shots we used a gimble to make them steadier and not shaky.
We also had to experiment a bit with artificial lighting due to some
areas being too dark for filming. We managed to resolve issues that came up
but sometimes we had to reschedule shots.

Following script and storyboard
![]() |
When filming on location we each had a copy of the script with us,
although it was mostly song lyrics, we did have directions on what we were
going to be doing for each part. We edited the script a little due to plans
changing or inspiration that happened on set.
We did the same with the storyboard and Josh R ended up doing 3
takes of the storyboard although they were harder to change due to the effort that goes into them. Most changes were to make the shots smoother and safer.
We were always prepared while shooting for something to go wrong.
We also had the song in the background for all the shots so that the
actor knew what beat he was moving and lip-syncing to.

Following safe working practices
![]() |
We considered all the hazards that could take place on locations and
prepared for them, we tucked away cables and equipment that weren’t being
used and removed anything that could injure anyone.
Before filming we checked the weather and rescheduled where necessary
so that we could guarantee no sickness and protection of ourselves.
With the increase in COVID – 19 cases around our area we each brought
our own hand sanitiser and washed our hands regularly.

Following production process
![]() |
The group stuck by our roles and followed our production processes closely.
We all stuck to our roles and stared in the video (other than Josh R who was the
Cinematographer). My role was as assistant director and I drove to locations,
gave people rides from Cambridge and organised people with their lessons alongside Dom. Dom handled more of the on shoot directing and I handled the off-shoot directing.
We each spent roughly 10-20 minutes planning what we were going to
film before filming it and that’s where most of our best ideas came from,
such as the car boot scene.
We each shared the work within the pre-production but some people
ended up doing more than others.

The following image is a screenshot of how we separated out the pre-production. We all did it on a first come first serve basis so Josh S, Josh R, Dom and I ended up doing most of the pre-production work.
